From the start of confinement, in my workshop at home, I decided to create a “Circle of Solidarity” in tribute to the hospital staff who are fighting on the front line against the global pandemic of Covid-19.
This symbolic work represents solidarity between those who stay at home to avoid the spread of the virus and those who work to save lives.
Made from the materials available in my workshop at home, this circle takes shape over the days. Iron structure, plastered band, mixture of plaster, cement and paint, gives birth to this circle. I decide to add a mask as a symbol of protection against the virus. It integrates into the circle in its white and blue color and is only discovered if one approaches very close to the circle.
I propose to other people to join this work and I collect via social networks texts, testimonies of recognition and encouragement for hospital staff.
The “Circle of Solidarity” is offered and installed on April 23 at the entrance of the Riviera-Chablais Hospital. The texts are on display near the circle.
I thank all those who have joined this circle to create a chain of union and sharing around Art as testimony in times of global pandemic.
